SSC CGL Exam Date 2026 for Tier 1 is 30 September to 30 October 2026, while Tier 2 is scheduled for December 2026. The recruitment is currently in progress, with candidates appearing for Tier 1 across multiple dates and shifts.
Important Dates
SSC CGL Exam Date 2026: Latest Schedule
The Staff Selection Commission revised the original August–September timeline and scheduled Tier 1 from 30 September to 30 October 2026. Tier 2 is scheduled for December 2026, but the exact dates have not yet been announced.
The Tier 1 city intimation slip was released on 21 September 2026. Admit card availability is being handled region-wise, with candidates able to access their admission certificate close to their individual examination date.
SSC CGL Exam Date 2026: Tier 1 Shift Timings
Tier 1 is conducted in three shifts, with each candidate receiving a specific reporting time and examination slot. The examination duration is 60 minutes.
Note: Candidates should follow the reporting time printed on their admission certificate rather than relying on general shift information.
SSC CGL Vacancy 2026: Latest Figure
The latest SSC CGL Vacancy 2026 figure is 10,731 tentative posts. The Commission initially advertised approximately 12,256 vacancies, but a revised vacancy document dated 24 September 2026 reduced the current tentative total by 1,525 posts.
Post-Wise SSC CGL Vacancy 2026
The revised SSC CGL Vacancy 2026 covers posts across central government departments and organisations. Some of the larger reported allocations include 2,366 Inspector posts in Central Excise under CBIC, 1,400 Tax Assistant posts under CBDT, 875 Auditor posts under CGDA, 841 Tax Assistant posts under CBIC, 668 Assistant Section Officer posts under CSS and 595 Inspector of Income Tax posts under CBDT.
SSC does not maintain a separate official state-wise or zone-wise vacancy total for CGL. Therefore, candidates should be cautious about websites publishing a fixed Kerala vacancy figure.
SSC CGL Kerala and KKR Region
The Karnataka Kerala Region, or KKR, administers SSC recruitment for Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Kerala examination centres include Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur.
However, appearing through KKR does not guarantee a posting in Kerala. Final allocation depends on the selected post, department, merit, preferences and available vacancies.
SSC CGL 2026 Eligibility and Exam Pattern
Candidates generally need a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institution. Certain posts have additional requirements. For example, JSO and Statistical Investigator Grade-II have specific qualification conditions related to Mathematics or Statistics.
Tier 1 contains 100 questions for 200 marks, divided equally among Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. A key 2026 change is the 15-minute sectional timing for each section, along with a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer.
What Candidates Should Do Now
Candidates appearing later in the Tier 1 window should regularly check the official SSC portal and their regional information. The city slip and admission certificate should be downloaded through the candidate login, and the details printed on the admission certificate should be treated as final for reporting.
After Tier 1, candidates should watch for the answer key, result and further instructions. The SSC CGL Exam Date 2026 for Tier 2 currently remains within December 2026, with exact dates still pending.
